From 18thApril to 22th April, Dr. Manuel Vázquez Villalabeitia, the chief professor of the Spanish National Research Council, visited Hubei University, at the invitation of the school. This trip was funded by the Provincial Education Department's “World Famous Scientists’ Lectures in Hubei Program”.
On the morning of April 19th, 2016, Hubei University held an appointment ceremony in the Sicheng Hall of the conference center. Jiang Tao presented the appointment letter of the visiting professor to Professor Manuel Vázquez Villalabeitia. The heads of the Personnel Department, the International Exchange and Cooperation Department and the School of Physics and Electronic Science attended the ceremony. After the ceremony, Professor Manuel Vázquez Villalabeitia gave an academic report entitled "Cylindrical nanowires: from applications of their arrays to the magnetization process of isolated nanowires", which was warmly welcomed by all the teachers and students.
Professor Manuel Vázquez Villalabeitia is the founder of the Spanish Society of Magnetism, the deputy director of the Madrid Institute of Materials Research at the National Research Council of Spain. In 2014, he was elected as the president of the IEEE Magnetic Society and the chairman of the International Magnetic Conference. He has served as the director of the Expert Committee of the National Materials Research Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Spain and the director of the Nanotechnology Strategy Committee. Professor Manuel Vázquez Villalabeitia has published more than 450 articles inPhys Rev Lett, Phys Rev B, Appl Phys Lett,etc. His articles have been cited more than 6,000 times. He has co-edited and published 9 monographs and about 20 patents.
