Jointly built by Hubei University and the Institute of Metal Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences,Sino-Russian Advanced Magnetic Functional Materials International Science and Technology Cooperation Base was among the first group of demonstration bases of international science and technology cooperation in Hubei Province. The Institute of Metal Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been one of the former Soviet and Russian basic physics research centers since its establishment in 1932. It enjoys a worldwide reputation, especially in the research of magnetism, high-pressure physics, physical metallurgy and non-destructive. The Institute has nuclear magnetic resonance, echo detector, Mossbauer spectroscopy, ferromagnetic resonance, all kinds of spectroscopy (X-ray, electron, visible light, neutron and secondary ion mass spectrometry), Rutherford scattering, SQUID, and other large-scale instruments, which can provide a comprehensive analysis of the composition, structure, magnetic, electrical transport properties and mechanical properties of the materials. Russia's scientific journalsPhysics of Metals and MetallographyandRussian Journal of Non-Destructive Testingare sponsored and published by the Institute. Since 2009, researchers from Hubei University and the Russian Institute of Metal Physics have conducted many exchanges of visits and combined the characteristics and advantages of the two sides to jointly study the relationship between the microstructure and electro-resistance effect of perovskite manganese oxide and physical mechanism of temperature change in martensitic phase transformation of Heusler. The two sides have established close scientific cooperation and achieved some initial achievements.Professor IV Medvedeva from the Russian Institute of Metal Physics was hired as a visiting professor at Hubei University. Professor VV Marchenkov was hired by Hubei University as a professor of the “Chutian Scholars Program” in Hubei Province. Professor I.V. Medvedeva and Professor Yang Changping of our University jointly applied for and were approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China-Russia International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Project and the Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Russian Institute of Metal Physics and Hubei University co-published more than ten SCI papers inJ.Appl.Phys., J.Alloys Comp. and other international magazines.
The two sides will make full use of their equipments and talents advantages to strengthen cooperation. With magnetic materials such as rare earth doped perovskite manganese oxide and Heusler ferromagnetic shape memory alloy as the common research objects, the two sides will achieve the sharing of instruments and data in sample preparation technology processing, performance measurement, and theoretical calculation, focusing on the important physical properties of the series of magnetic material blocks, film structure, phase change and shape memory, magnetic card effect, magnetoresistance effect, exchange bias, etc. to lay the theoretical and experimental foundations for its potential applications. At the same time, the two sides will jointly apply for projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other relevant ministries and commissions. With the expanding of their influence, the two sides strive to upgrade to the national and international science and technology cooperation base.
